Prostitute in you

It is often said that the essence of another person is sleeping in you. For example, “the essence of a child” is one of them, but “prostitute” in you may be unheard of.

Prostitutes exchange money with sex. This is a general prostitute on a street, but if it is spoken for inner prostate, “body ” is a symbol of morals, moderation, innocence, honesty, etc. People who have it are called “prostitute archetypes”.

This is part of the science of human energy, which has been elaborated by Dr. Carolyn Myss. The implications of these archetype imbalances are clearly articulated in many of her books.

According to Dr. Myss, most of the men and women prostitute archetype is married and tend to hold onto their jobs once they have obtained them. Even if it turns out to be a mentally painful or inappropriate job, look for any excuse and prioritize financial stability.

Especially if the person know where your passion lies, Dr. Miss says it’s a typical inner prostitute who sells her soul and gets financial security. Prostitute energy thrives on fears around stability and security.

This “prostitute archetype” becomes most prominent in a marriage relationship because it includes your family, children, home loans, and assets. At the soul level, even if you strongly feel that you have to get out of the situation, you justify it mainly for economic reasons and cling to the relationship.

This stagnant energy without the spout often turned into a disease in the body. In particular, it is, according to Dr. Myss, closely associated with obesity and is prone to cancer and inflammatory diseases.

If this is you, nothing changes if you wait for something to change. Because your thoughts are created by your current environment, and that environment was created by your unconscious archetype like this. So this is something you have to change consciously.

This is also a part of me that I am working on myself right now. It is very hard sometimes, but I am trying to raise awareness by becoming more conscious of my thoughts and feelings. “Prostitute archetypes” are not limited to women, but everyone has a different level of energy. Money is the powerful thing that can control you, and therefore many people can understand when you make a financial excuse.

The important thing is to listen to your voice from your soul. “You have to get out of this state,” “This is not where you belong.” These are calls from your soul. And you need to be aware of the prostitute in you that have such shadows, face them sincerely, and constantly examine your thoughts and actions.

“God (or Gods or the universe) never leaves you on a burning bridge.”

This is something that I am telling myself, but I will post it anyway as it will lead to your “conscious” health.

Prostitute in you looks for security.

The Christmas gift for myself has arrived! – Berkey Filter

I accomplished much this year. So I sent myself a Christmas gift to celebrate myself and it arrived yesterday. Hoo Hoo Hoo!

The water filter I was using had gotten broken a while ago, so I placed an order for Berkey Filter which I have wanted to give it a try for quite a long time.

70% of our physical body is water. The water is indispensable for us to live, and influencing our body, spirit, emotions, and thinking.

The water from a tap in your house traveled a long distance from the source. Water absorbs energy and minerals from the wild but at the same time, it contacts with many harmful substances for our body.

Water is also given disinfectants and it has to have a minimum chlorine level when it comes out of your tap. It is necessary but chlorine also damages our health in many ways. Especially when the chlorine gets warmed up it creates a carcinogenic byproduct called trihalomethane by six folds as much as it is in cold water. When you take a shower you inhale it in the steam to your lung. So pay attention to the  water quality in your bathroom as well.

Water also contains heavy metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, pesticide, herbicide, and other POPs.

Water is said to absorb energy and sustain it so avoid filthy water as much as possible to refrain from being negatively charged by harmful energy.

If you want to know more about water, how to minimize toxins in it, please listen to my PodCast below.

Quite shocking fact of antibiotics

The shocking fact I learned today

Overuse of antibiotics has been an issue in many places. I know this is true for both the US and Japan. Many people still think antibiotics are the panacea for many health issues. Even some doctors still prescribe it for viral infections such as cold, flu, or bronchitis even most of them would treat only bacterial infections.

It has been said this overuse of antibiotics is actually causing many chronic diseases. Also really bad for your gut health. Why? It kills not only BAD bacteria but also GOOD bacterias that are necessary for our gut to function properly. Also antibiotic creates superbugs that got immune to existing antibiotics.

So I know many of you try to avoid antibiotics if it is not absolutely necessary, right? So do I. That was why I was quite shocked to learn this.

According to Ann Cooper from the lunchbox dot org, “80% of all antibiotics produced are used for animal agriculture.”

(Also refer to etc)

80%? Wow. This is a lot. And I realized even we try not to take antibiotics from hospitals as a pill form, it comes into our body from what we eat unless you are eating organic meat.

I think this tells you 2 things if you want to be healthy and be the best you. 1. Eat Organic meat 2. Constantly take care of your gut flora.

I just remember I saw an article a couple of years ago, antibiotic, and an antidepressant agent was found in wild salmons in Puget Sound in Seattle. Chemical toxins are everywhere. Now we really need to be aware of that.

Our 8+1 Detox program

will not only balance your gut flora but also remove bad bacteria and endotoxins from your gut, and nurture your gut walls only by food and natural supplements.

Is your antibiotics really necessary?

Detox Side Effect!

The main purpose of the detoxification program is to optimize your detoxification organs mainly Gut, Liver, and kidney and excrete toxins that have been accumulated in your system. But after completion of the 8+1 Detox Program, I did with a couple of other people actually lower my cholesterol as a welcoming side effect.

About half a year ago, I was told my cholesterol was on a high side. But the balance between LDL, HDL, and Triglyceroid was not too bad, I did not give much care for that. After completion of the detox program, I asked my doctor to check my cholesterol level and found my Total Cholesterol went down by 30mg/a dl, also LDL (aka Bad Cholesterol) down by 25mg/dl without compensating HDL much.

8+1 detox mainly relies on the power of food. You will learn what the clean beneficial food for your healthy living in the first 2 weeks and you will be able to crowd out the food that negatively affects you and break your bad eating habit for most people. This is why the issues like cholesterol that can largely be controlled by what you eat will get a beneficial side effect.

If you are interested in the 8+1 Group Detox Program which I am planning to start from the beginning of next year, please leave me your e-mail address for more information.

YES! Please inform me!!

You have myriad of minor gut symptoms? You may have a leaky gut.

The biggest enemy for health in our generation may be inflammation. The heat from the immune function is, of course, a very important defense mechanism when you have flu, cold, and injury. But this immune response is activated repeatedly and becomes chronic, it causes lots of malfunction. It starts damaging tissues and causes insulin resistance and if it is untreated you end up becoming diabetes, heart disease, auto-immune disease, dementia, and cancer. It is now said inflammation is the underlying cause of most of the existing chronic diseases.

You might hear about Leakey Gut Syndrome. Some still say it is a pseudoscience, I definitely think it is real and makes sense. Leaky Gut syndrome, as it literally reads, your GI tract becomes “Leaky” and let pathogens, viruses, and other bad actors into your bloodstream. If this happens, you are not only suffered chronically from diarrhea and constipation, but also from chronic fatigue to brain fog, weak immune system, to allergies.

And Leaky Gut is a huge contributor to inflammation. Because it lets a variety of toxins into the bloodstream, it triggers your immune response, thus chronic inflammation.

Then why does your gut become leaky?

There is no one cause. It is thought our diet change, toxin increase, and abusive medicine prescriptions and increased stress in modern society. but the best reason of all is the decrease of our microbiome.

This is why it is so important to cultivate your microbes in your gut, this is now fundamental for our health. When you have your gut in the right order, your body, brain, emotions, and mind also start to work right.

HERE are steps for you to implement the diet that helps to balance your gut microbiome and prevent yourself from getting a leaky gut.

Look at the list of choices, take 1 at a time and do it for a week. The choices you picked are meant to be permanent. This slow phase-by-phase implementation is the most promising way to implement new lifestyle choices and crowd out current ones that may give a bad effect on you.

Super Easy:

  1. Include soluble fiber-rich food (oatmeal, whole grain, banana, unpeeled organic fruits smoothies etc.) in your breakfast and dinner, and take a probiotic supplement with it.
  2. Eat plenty of salad at least once a day.
  3. Consume probiotic food at least once a day (Such as Kiefer, Yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut etc)
  4. Cut off your alcohol consumption to a glass of wine or beer a day.
  5. When you snack, take a limited portion in a down and never eat from a bag.
  6. Share your dessert with someone.
  7. Mindful to eat anti-inflammatory food. (Berries, nuts, seeds, wholegrain, turmeric, ginger, dark green leaf, etc)
  8. Do not pop in pain killers, (Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, Aspirin)
  9. Be mindful when you have to take antibiotics.

When you complete all of the above, consider implementing ones from the next level.

I, as a Health Optimizer, specializing in gut health, guide you through your journey for your healthy, happy, wellbeing by gradually implementing new customized diet and lifestyle according to your bio-individuality.

I am happy, are you?

I am happy, are you?

I peeled a new sticky note and found hand-written letters on the note underneath that was obviously not my writing.

“I am happy, are you?”

My 11 year old daughter playfully jotted it down for me. It was a bit of a surprise that made me pause my work and started thinking.

Everyone wants to be happy. But when and how? I know many people who think success brings happiness. Not only big success but also achieving goals like losing weight by 5lb, pass an exam, and get promoted at work, etc.

However, this “Success brings happiness” may have been one of our beliefs that have been programmed by our society. Many successful people seem happy. But they may have already been happy before they became successful?

Maybe it is  “Happiness brings success”?

Shawn Achor, the phycologist dived into this notion and said: “success does not bring happiness, but it is actually a vise-versa, Happiness brings Success”. Many scientific studies prove that positive forecast and feeling happy increase creativity and brain activity. It brings good results and higher performance at work.

Also, It is known by genetic research that breaking beliefs dramatically accelerates genetic change. When we think more positively, and increase intimacy with others will not only make us happy but it improves our work and academic performance. (Reference Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton)

Additionally, positive thinking slows down aging. So be open to new ideas, positive thinking, and feeling happy now is attracting your success and not vise-versa.

So if you think you need to be successful to be happy, try to be happy now. It may take you much closer to your success.

How can you be happy? Big question. One thing I want to say is that the Health Coach can guide you through your journey to find happiness, as well. Happiness is also within our idea of “The Health”.

Would you like to have a chat with me about your health and happiness? Feel free to contact me.

Yes! I would like to have a Free chat with you.

発芽玄米 (Germinated Brown Rice [GBR]) English after Japanese.

Do you want to eat Brown rice but hard to digest? Make it sprouted!

Grains are seeds. Therefore it contains chemicals to attack the external enemies to protect itself.

Lectin and Phytic Acid are the examples. This anti-nutrients bind with magnesium, calcium, iron and other nutrients and block those nutrients from being digested in your body.

How about Arsenic? Grain has, well, rice has high level of arsenic in general and brown rice contains more arsenic than white one. This is due to the arsenic gets stored in its husk.

The way you can dramatically minimize these issues is Germination.

The lectins will be almost gone when spouted.

When grains sprouted its gluten and proteins become more easily digested so it becomes much easier for your stomach.

Arsenic will also be removed by 80% after this process.

Surprisingly, Soaking for 3 h and sprouting for 21 h has been found to be optimum for getting the highest gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). The intake of GBR instead of white rice ameliorates the hyperglycemia, boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure, inhibits development of cancer cells and assists the treatment of anxiety disorders. [data]

This is no longer just a “Brown Rice”! It is a super GBR!
Here is how I make brown rice sprouted:

1. Soak whole brown rice in clean water (not from a tap) for a half day.
2. Dump the water, (Important! the toxins also gets drained) and refill with new clean water for another 12 hours.
3. Dump the water,(again!) rinse it and put the lid on and leave for about 24 hours.
4. When you see it sprouted with tiny bud, it’s done. Cook it with your rice cooker as you normally do. (you may want little less water than usual. See how much water you like by trying a couple times) If you do not have a rice cooker, pour 1.5 to 2 times as much water as the  quantity of the rice and (hajime chord-choro naka papa) Start with low heat and higher heat once it starts boiling, turn the heat down to medium, cook until all water is gone. (However recommending a rice cooker if you eat often)

A life full of Toxins

Where does toxin come into our body?

Food additives, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, tap water, factory wastewater, cleaners, cosmetics, building materials, exhaust gas, canned cans, plastic, prescribing medicines etc. Those who are reading my post are highly health conscious, so I think you already know about this area.

The number of poisons is increasing astronomically compared to just half a century ago, now toxins are spreading everywhere. It is a life full of poison. Poison is hiding in an unexpected place we can not imagine and surprises us.

For example, pizza.

Pizza salami is so and so, cheese is so and so, pizza dough is so and so, well… it is beyond that cliche.

It is the box.

Pizza boxes are often spread with perfluorinated alkylated substance (PFAS) – a chemical substance with a terribly long name than Pokemon monsters attached to it, is an endocrine disruptor and causes immunotoxicity. It is said that increase the risk of developmental, reproductive, nervous system disorders, and weak immunity and even cancer. It is a very poisonous substance especially for – guess who? – pizza stapled developing children.

PAFS is used not only for pizza boxes but also for many non-sticking frying pans, rain gear, climbing shoes, stain-processed clothes, furniture, backpacks, and even in medical equipment in hospitals. So we likely be exposed.

Can you imagine where this poison go when leaving our body?

A study in Europe from 2015, researchers found this perfluorooctane sulfonic acid enters the infant through the mother’s breast milk. The mother’s level of PFAS goes down after breastfeeding a baby. But it gets concentrated in breast milk and passed down to our babies… our future.

Reference here.

Much nasty poison like this one we have in our body will be handed down to generations after us and may cause some health obstacles to our descendants.

It seems almost impossible to avoid toxins 100% as long as we exist. So what important is to know the existence of such poisons, avoid them, and detoxify yourself to excrete them regularly from the body to help support your bodily detoxification.

Let’s Talk About Food and Us.

Episode 7

How to choose eggs to live to 150 years old. 🙂

Pocket Summary:

1. Cholesterol is not our enemy, cholesterol is essential for all animals including us.

2. Consume good fat, Eggs contain high in good fat.

3. The best quality eggs are USDA Organic pasture-raised, it is pricy but contain 3times as much nutrients than conventional eggs (Caged).

1. Is Egg Bad for Your Heart?

It’s true that eggs are high in dietary cholesterol, One egg contains 186 mg of cholesterol, all of which is found in the yolk but they’re low in saturated fat, which is the bigger culprit when it comes to raising blood cholesterol levels. Because of this, eggs get the green light according to the government’s  2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

The suggestion that the higher saturated fat content in eggs accelerates atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) as much as smoking does is false. New research from both the Harvard School of Public Health and the National Institutes of Health have debunked this concept.”

In fact,  one recent meta-analysis found that higher consumption of eggs (up to one egg per day) is not associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease or stroke. And a 2016 Finnish study involving more than 1,000 men concluded that egg or cholesterol intakes are not associated with increased risk of coronary artery disease, even in those who are genetically predisposed to experience a stronger effect of dietary cholesterol on blood cholesterol.

Re-defining Cholesterol

Yuka was talking about Cholesterol in depth. If you want to know the details about Cholesterol  I would recommend listening to what she says. Here I will briefly write down the important points she was making in her talk.

“Cholesterol is not our enemy and it is essential to our body”. Yuka repeated. It composes about 30% of all animal’s cell membranes and modulates its fluidity over the range of physiological temperatures. It is actually your liver that makes more than 70% of your cholesterol needed. About 1000 – 2000mg cholesterol is actually needed for average men a day. An average 185mg cholesterol of one egg does not really affect you as much as we used to think. Typical daily cholesterol dietary intake for a man in the  United States is 307 mg. This also tells us that dietary intake of cholesterol does not really matter.

I talked about my result of the blood test for cholesterol levels. Here is the result.

OK, I admit my LDL and total are border high. But this does not really tell much about my heart disease risk. The ratio between Total Cholesterol and HDL is 3.2, and less than 6 is recommended and ideal is told 3.5 by some forward thinking health practitioners. Triglycerides verses HDL is also less than 2 which is also good. These ratios are more reliable than just looking at “Total Cholesterol” level. Simply no cholesterol level is equal for all human-being. Heart disease risk also should be assessed by many other factors like his/her lifestyle – diet, smoking, alcohol, exercise and genetic data and blood sugar level. Though I do not care too much about what my doctor told me, I just stopped licking a stick of butter too much. Also note that I read many Japanese Health web sites that were talking about increase level of LDL after being Ketogenic diet (Which is now very buzzing diet in the US especially in the bio-hackers, Silicon Valley executives in Bay area and weight control community) for a while. I am not endorsing Ketogenic to everyone because root philosophy is “Not one diet fits everyone”. Keto Diet maybe good for some but also cause bad effect for some. Most important thing is to be always mindful and listen to your own body and try a new diet theory slowly.

It may be how you prepare eggs?

One large poached egg has 71 calories and 2 grams of saturated fat, and an omelet made with spinach and one yolk is also a lean choice. But a serving of eggs Benedict with bacon and Hollandaise sauce has about 800 calories and 26 grams of saturated fat.

So feel free to enjoy eggs, but watch how you eat them. And balance eggs with other healthy fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Dioxin and Eggs

The Documentary film “What the Health”, the eggs-equaling-five-cigarettes-a-day comparison comes from a focus on eggs’ dioxin content. Dioxins are highly toxic compounds that accumulate primarily in the fatty tissues of animals. The WHO  calls them a “known carcinogen”—which would point to eggs being super unhealthy.

Functional Medicine Doctor says: ”A diet rich in organic, pasture-raised eggs and other animal products has ample amounts of bioavailable true vitamin A, which is only found in animal products. Vitamin A down-regulates the toxic actions of dioxins.” Meaning, essentially, that eggs contain the bad stuff (dioxins), but because of nature’s intelligence, they also contain good elements to prevent the bad stuff from wreaking havoc on your body. Cole also points to the high-dioxin content of various plant-based foods. ” Research has found that, other than fish oil, which isn’t consumed in high amounts, rice was the most concentrated source of dioxin toxins.

2. Egg Nutrients:

Vitamins / %DV: / 2 eggs

A 550 IU / 12.5%

D 42 IU / 10%

E 1.2 mg / 6%

B12 1.5 mcg / 26%

DV = Daily Value recommended by FDA

Other examples of Egg Nutrition:

  • Selenium: Nutritionally speaking, selenium is essential to humans. It plays vital roles in DNA synthesis, thyroid hormone metabolism, reproduction, and protection against oxidative damage and infection.
  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin): When you get a ton of vitamin B2 in your diet, you will notice your urine turn into a bright yellow color. Besides giving a darker shade of pee, vitamin B2 gives vital support to iron metabolism, antioxidant protection, and energy production.
  •  Iodine: If you’ve ever done the simple science test for starch in a potato, then perhaps you are familiar with iodine. In a dietary sense, iodine supports your thyroid gland and is a fundamental component of hormone production.
  • Phosphorus: Phosphorus is a key component in making sure your bones stay healthy and strong, balancing vitamins in your body, managing, making, and storing energy, producing your genetic building blocks (DNA and RNA), muscle contraction, and many other crucial bodily functions.

3. Kind of egg matters.

Not all eggs are treated equally. Egg depends on its mother’s health state. How the hen has raised matters the most.

There are many labelings on Egg cartons in a supermarket.

Conventional Battery Cage (90% of eggs on a market in the US, also in Japan)

67-square inch space each hen. They never see the light of day and consume a corn or soy diet. Over 90 percent of eggs in the U.S.come from hens that are kept in cages for their entire egg-laying lives.

Cage Free

These ladies have more room than caged hens since each is given less than 1 square foot. Still, they’re not entirely “free,” since they’re confined to barns and consume a corn or soy diet.

Free-range / Free-roaming

Allotted less than 2 square feet per hen, Some seldom get to see the light of day and many eat a corn- or soy-based feed.

You will see this label on eggs originating from hens that were allowed outdoors at least for part of their days. Typically, this means the hen was granted access to sunlight. The term “Free-range” is used differently from country to country.

For chickens, “free range” means the birds must “have access to the outdoors for an undetermined period each day, according to the USDA. In practice, this can mean the chickens live most of their lives outdoors, retreating to their coop only when weather or other factors require them to do so, or it can mean the chickens spend all their time in cramped, indoor pens that have a small door opened to the outside for just a few minutes each day.

If poultry is certified “free range” as part of the Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC)’s Certified Humane program, it means the chickens spend at least six hours a day outdoors (weather permitting), and have at least two square feet per bird in their pens. The Certified Humane certification covers a variety of issues.

A pasture is a patch of land covered with grass and plants, the ideal habitat for grazing livestock. These ladies are given at least 108 square feet each (If it is Certified Humane Certified) and consume some feed and lots of grass, bugs, worms and anything else they can find in the dirt.  Pasture-raised chickens must be free to roam outside year-round, but also have a house for protection from weather and/or predators.

We talked about Alexandre Kids Eggs as one of the high-quality Organic Pasture-raised eggs.

USDA Standards for Organic Eggs

To qualify as organic, eggs must come from chickens that are fed only organic feed, i.e., feed that is free of animal by-products, synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or other chemical additives. No genetically modified foods can be used. Additionally, organic eggs must come from chickens that are given antibiotics only in the event of an infection.

No hormones or other drugs can be used in organic egg production.

Molting — when birds shed their older feathers to make room for new ones — is sometimes induced in commercial egg and chicken production by withholding food, water or by other means. Molting extends the productive life of laying chickens, but it cannot be induced in chickens laying organic eggs; only natural molting is allowed to occur.

Organic eggs must come from chickens that live in cage-free environments and have access to the outdoors, even if their outdoor area is just a small pen or enclosed yard area. Pens are used to protect the chickens and their eggs from predators like hawks, foxes, raccoons, coyotes and other animals.

The only difference in eggs labeled as “Omega-3-enriched” is that those hens were fed omega-3 rich sources, i.e. flax seeds. Though these eggs are higher in omega-3 fatty acid content, the amount doesn’t have that dramatic of an effect on your health, and the may even be unhealthy if the hen was fed a poor-quality omega-3 diet.

When you see this label, you can be certain that the eggs came from hens that were not fed any animal protein. While this may sound healthy, a hen’s natural diet is not actually vegetarian and may include things like insects and worms. A vegetarian-fed label also tells you nothing about the treatment or living conditions of the hen.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will also issue a grade or an inspection marking if the eggs were officially checked for quality (freshness) and sanitation. Grade AA eggs are usually the highest in quality and the freshest.

Pastured vs. Conventional Nutrition

In 2007, Mother Earth News magazine decided to test the nutritional value of pastured eggs from 14 different farms.

They were measured in a lab, then compared to the USDA standard conventional egg.

4. Brown, White or Green?

Believe it or not, the price isn’t actually an indicator of how healthy the eggs are. The main difference is in the type of chicken that lays the egg. In general chickens with white earlobes lay white eggs, and chickens with brown (red) earlobes lay brown eggs. Earlobe color is not necessarily the same color as the rest of a chicken’s feathers and not all chickens follow this rule.

There are even green and blue chicken eggs out there! A pigment called oocyanin results in blue eggs, while porphyrins result in brown eggs. Color isn’t linked to nutrition.

There are many different types of chickens bred for egg-laying. The most common are the Rhode Island Red, the New Hampshire, and the White Leghorn.

Brown eggs typically come from larger sized hens, and because it is more expensive to feed the bigger hens they tend to be more expensive. This usually makes white-eggs the more cost-efficient choice.

Books to Read:

To understand how GMO research in the US is twisted and manipulated by Big corporations:
“Deep Nutrition”

Why Your Genes Need Traditional Food

BY Catherine Shanahan, M. D.

Physician and biochemist Cate Shanahan, M.D. is a nutrition advisor for LA Lakers examined diets around the world known to help people live longer, healthier lives―diets like the Mediterranean, Okinawa, and “Blue Zone”―and identified the four common nutritional habits, developed over millennia, that unfailingly produce strong, healthy, intelligent children, and active, vital elders, generation after generation. These four nutritional strategies―fresh food, fermented and sprouted foods, meat cooked on the bone, and organ meats―form the basis of what Dr. Cate calls “The Human Diet.”

This book covers a lot and I personally recommend this to really understand the toxicity and ill effects of vegetable oils and sugar to our health. Since she talks about Oil and fat a lot it also explains cholesterol and all other kinds of fat including Omega – 3, 6, and PUFA.

To understand “Fat” and how important it is for your HEAD.
“Headstrong” – The Bullet Proof plan to activate untapped brain energy.

By David Asprey

Dave Asprey is one of the best guys out there to ask about fat, isn’t he? In this book the word “fat” appears nearly 300 times. “fat” is that important. I also know he eats eggs as his one of the main good fat sources. He talks about it a lot.

In Head Strong, Asprey shows us that all of this is possible—and more. Using his simple lifestyle modifications (or “hacks”) to take advantage of how the structure of your brain works, readers will learn how to take their mental performance to the next level. Combining the latest findings in neuroscience and neurobiology with a hacker-inspired “get it done now” perspective, Asprey offers a program structured around key areas of brain performance that will help you:

  • Power the brain with exactly what it needs to perform at its best all day long
  • Eliminate the sources of “kryptonite,” both nutritional and environmental, that make the brain slower.
  • Supercharge the cellular powerhouses of our brains, the mitochondria, to eliminate cravings and turn up mental focus.
  • Reverse inflammation to perform better right now, then stay sharp and energized well into your golden years.
  • Promote neuron growth to enhance processing speed and reinforce new learning—hotwiring your brain for success.

Is Soy good for us?

We are consuming soys in many ways now more than ever. Not only Soy milk, Soy yogurt, and Tofu but also Soy sausage, Soykey, Protain bars and potain drinks, soy is even in vitamin suppliments. After all is soy good or bad for us?

1. Eat Miso and Natto every day like many Japanese do!

2. Avoid consuming processed soy products.

3. Pick “Non-GMO” or “Organic” soy products all the time.

Who eats soy? Are people in the US really big consumers?

Simply no. While soy has gained attention in the U.S. and Europe as a miracle crop, it is not yet an established part of the Western diet.

For example, the world’s biggest soybean producer is the U.S., it produces about 73 million tons per year.

But its population only consumes on average about 40 grams of soy per person per year. This is less than the amount eaten in one day by the average person in Japan.

Quite interesting to know couple countries about Soybean produce and consume ratio:

The United States produces 73,000,000 (73 million) tons per year (About 40% of global soy supply), eat 40grams / each person per year.

Japan produces 227,000 tons per year, eat 8.2kg of soy / each person per year.

China produces 12,725,000 tons per year, eat 3,96 kg per year.

Considering US people eat soy yearly less than the amount Japanese people consume within a day, I do not think soy is a big deal for people in the US unless you are a vegetarian or Zen monk who eats tofu for each meal.

What products are made of soy?

– Tofu, Soy milk, Soy Yogurt, Soy burgers, Soy energy bars, and Soyturkey etc.

– Asian: Tofu, Miso, Natto, Soy Source, Edamame, Tofu

– About 80% of the soy currently produced in the United States is used as animal feed in 1950s.

– Soy became a replacement of milk and animal meat in the US in the 60s and health waves brought by the new US dietary recommendations (McGovern Report) and Hippie movement in the 70th made soy a solid foundation for “HEALTHY” alternative.

The forms of soy eaten in the US and Japan for example, are very different. Soy has been introduced relatively recent to the US in the 60s and most of the soy products are highly processed. Yuka was talking about her story that she was told Tofu was bad from the alternative nutrition expert and she was surprised. “Japanese have been eating Tofu every day last 2000 years!”. One of the reasons she thinks is that in order to coagulate soy milk, the naturally occurring magnesium chloride is used traditionally in Japan, whereas here in the US, it is a chemical form and that makes the difference in the final form of Tofu. Put the Tofu on a side, most soybeans consumed by Japanese are fermented such as Miso, Natto, Soy Sauce but soy products consumed in the US are not fermented form and many of them are “Soy protein”.

Soy and cancer? Soy Isoflavone = Phytoestrogen

When Soy was started shifting from Animal food to Human food, many research was conducted in order to reduce cost mainly by American Soybean Association in the 60s. Since most of the research was conducted by soybean association, the soy was seen beneficial for our health. Lots of protein, and fiber, Omega-3 fatty acid. The start was great, many health-conscious people started taking soy products as a healthy alternative.

In 1996, a research suggested the link between soy and cancer, especially breast cancers. This was thought being caused by isoflavone because it acts like estrogen, and estrogen level is considered a cause of breast cancer. After this finding, the Phytoestrogen was considered cancer risk, some research suggested no relation to cancer. The results went back and forth.

The latest word now is from 2017 data came from  Breast Cancer Family Registry , an international database funded by the National Cancer Institute. “I would say this study is probably the strongest one that we have right now in North American women, showing that soy consumption in breast cancer patients is not only safe but also beneficial,” Emory’s Kucuk said.

Is Soy Bad for Us? Yes, if it is GMO.

90% of soybean produced in the US is Genetically Modified. GMOs are banned or restricted in over 60 countriesbased on their scientific research for possible negative effects of GMO. We have been traditionally modified genes for better taste etc, e.g. Seedless grapes, waterline and so force but recent GMO foods are transgenic. It is made by forcing synthetic versions of based on those from one or more species into the DNA of an unrelated species in order to introduce a new trait.

Examples of GMO:
  1. Inserting a gene based on that of a coldwater fish into a tomato plant so that the tomato plant won’t freeze in the winter.
  2. Another example would be inserting a synthetic version of a bacterial gene toxic to insects into corn plants so that corn rootworms die when they attempt to eat the corn. (notorious btCorns)

GMO was made to tolerate herbicide mainly for Round-up made by Monsanto. It contains glyphosate. Which is widely known as a carcinogen. Then weeds become herbicides tolerant and no longer effective and became monster weeds. So farmers have started using even more toxic herbicides such as 2,4-D, an ingredient of the Vietnam War defoliant – Agent Orange, and dicamba.

GMOs are inadequately or not safety tested. we want to know whether studying the effects of feeding GMO plant foods to animals is a reliable marker for evaluating their long-term safety in humans. After all, rats and mice, the common test animals in these studies, live a very short lifespan compared with humans.

In the United States, the FDA does not do safety studies and allows biotech companies to do their own studies. These industry “studies,” which always present GMOs favorably, are kept secret from the public. For more details, there is a good book I can recommend, It is called “Altered Genes Twisted truth” by Steven Drucker . This public interest attorney filed a lawsuit against FDA regarding cover- up the research results against GM risks. Many forward-thinking doctors say genetically modified organisms (GMO)  has an undeniable role that they play in:

• Allergies

•Antibiotic resistance

• Cancer

•Endocrine system disruption

•Premature aging

•Reproductive system disorders

Remember, more than 90% of soybeans produced in the US are GMO!

According to “TheToxin Solution” by Joseph Pizzorno.

There was a study conducted in Europe. After eating 1 week of conventional pesticides food and vegetable, people switched to Organic food for 2 weeks reduced their toxin level by 95% in their Urine test before and after the 2week Organic period.

We think everything is a balance. If you consume an excess amount of soy, since it is high in phytoestrogen, may cause your hormonal imbalance. I was surprised my friend told me she liked milk and she drinks 2 cups each in a morning, during lunch and before going to bed! That is too much! If you drink soy milk the same way she does for cow milk it may cause some health issues. (Cow milk maybe worse depends on a kind)

It is healthy if soybeans are fermented, eaten in a traditional way most Japanese or other Asian people are eating, such as Miso, Natto, Soy sauce as long as it is organic and non-GMO. Micro Bacteria eats up much of the toxins and develop amino acid, fatty acid, as well as the variety of good vitamins such as Vitamin K2 and B6 and highly probiotic.

Fun Facts:

Nagano prefecture in Japan is the number One consumer of Miso in Japan. Consumption of Natto is also in top10. And cancer mortality rate is lowest in the country

Whereas Osaka prefecture in Japan is rated 45th (lowest 3) of the soybean consumer in Japan. They are famous as “Natto Haters”. No supermarket in Osaka area has Natto on the shelf. And…listen to this…cancer mortality rate is the HIGHEST in the country.

A shipment of 36 million pounds of soybeans sailed late last year from Ukraine to Turkey to California. Most of them has “Organic” label, but USDA found many of the claim were fraud.

To understand how GMO research in the US is twisted and manipulated by Big corporations:

“Altered Genes, Twisted Truth.”

This book provides a graphic account of how this elaborate fraud was crafted and how it not only deceived the general public but Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Barack Obama and a host of other astute and influential individuals as well. The book also exposes how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was induced to become a key accomplice–and how it has broken the law and repeatedly lied in order to usher genetically engineered foods onto the market without the safety testing that’s required by federal statute. As a result, for fifteen years America’s families have been regularly ingesting a group of novel products that the FDA’s own scientific staff had previously determined to be unduly hazardous to human health.

To understand how much toxins are in our environment and how to avoid them:
“The Toxin Solution” – How Hidden Poisons in the Air, Water, Food, and Products We Use Are Destroying Our Health–AND WHAT WE CAN DO TO FIX IT

By Joseph Pizzarno

Dr. Joe Pizzorno is convinced that lifelong good health rests on two key determinants: your exposure to toxins and your ability to process them in your body. While lifestyle, diet, and genetics all play a major role in well-being, many symptoms of declining health and chronic disease are rooted in toxic overload—our exposure to a barrage of chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, electromagnetic frequencies, and pollution that are the byproducts of modern life.
